Fearless Music is a musical showcase filmed in New York City featuring bands that are on the cusp of the mainstream and indie rock circuits. The word "fearless" in the name refers to the fear that many artists and promoters have of not having their work accepted in the mainstream.

Born in London to composer/conductor father and an Opera singer mother, Lucy has always had music in her veins. When she was 5 years old, her family moved to NYC. Irish singer/songwriter Gemma Hayes has always had music in her life. Being one of eight siblings, there was often music blasting in her house, and she learned to play the piano at a young age. Gemma¹s songs have been used in ³Grey¹s Anatomy² and in the movie ³Mr. And Mrs. Smith². She has also collaborated with Counting Crows¹ singer Adam Duritz . Jacksonville, Florida natives Black Kids sound like a throwback to the days The Cure and Joy Division . This talented quartet started in 2001, in upstate Geneva, New York. They had the goal to make hip-hop music that would steer away from programmed samples and beats of typical hip-hop groups. They reached their goal, and do this with ease by playing LIVE hip-hop, combining rock, rap, and R&B. In addition to playing shows with such bands as Fall Out Boy and Plain White T¹s, GCH won the MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist . Although this singer-songwriter has influences ranging from Fiona Apple and Tori Amos to Blind Melon and John Mayer , Anna Nalick produces a sound all her own. Her lyrics and music are sure to move you. Signed in 2003 to Columbia Records , Anna released her debut album " Wreck of the Day " in 2005, and is currently working on her second album ³Broken Doll². Nick Howard

Performing: "Lazy Eye"

This quartet from Los Angeles, CA formed in 2005. Although they had all been in other bands, they decided to join forces to create Silversun Pickups. Some of their influences include My Bloody Valentine , Modest Mouse and Sonic Youth . Once SSPU started playing the LA club scene, the four musicians started to gain a following. This soon led to getting signed to Dangerbird Records . Their EP, "Pikul" was released in 2005, followed by Silversun Pickups¹ 2006 full-length debut, "Carnavas". Based out of London, Matt Hales AKA Aqualung has been involved in music ever since he was young. At age 16 he won a scholarship to take composition classes, and at age 17 he created a symphony called ³Life Cycle². Matt was involved in quite a few bands before he decided to create Aqualung, (who plays alternative pop-rock). Aqualung¹s influences include The Beatles and Stevie Wonder . Aqualung¹s US debut combines his two past albums (the self-titled debut, and ³Still Life²), to create ³Strange and Beautiful². The song of the same name was also featured in a VW Beetle commercial. Hailing from Jacksonville, FL, Yellowcard began in 1997. Throughout the years, band members have come and gone, but they continued to pump out great pop punk music. Yellowcard has toured all over the world, and gained mainstream success with the release of their 2003 album " Ocean Avenue ". Originally from the town of St. Andrew¹s, Scotland, this talented singer-songwriter is becoming more known everyday. Her hit song ³Black Horse and the Cherry Tree² was even nominated for a Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance . KT¹s songs have also been featured in various TV shows and movies. KT has always had an interest in music; she taught herself how to play guitar and says she learned how to sing when she listened to an Ella Fitzgerald tape . Some of her other influences include David Bowie , James Brown , Billie Holiday , Johnny Cash , and Lou Reed . De Novo Dahl formed in Murfreesboro, TN in 2001. Their name is a combination of ³de novo², Latin for ³the new² and Dahl referencing children author Roald Dahl . Kevin Gibson and Rob Kleiner (of Chicago band Tub Ring), make up Super 8 Bit Brothers. Their electro rock songs are written based on one thing: video games. Whether it¹s playing games, or experiences dealing with video games, all songs are catchy, funny, and pretty much amazing. They have played all over, including many video game conventions . DEVOTCHKA
DEVOTCHKA on Fearless Music TV

Performing: "We¹re Leaving"

Denver based Devotchka is truly one of the most unique and original sounding bands in quite some time. They blend punk, folk, jazz and everything in between. In Devotchka¹s early days, they were a backing band for burlesque shows, which included touring with burlesque performer Dita von Teese. They have also played with the likes of The Dresden Dolls , Marilyn Manson and Regina Spektor . A huge breakthrough for Devotchka was when directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris asked them to score film, ³Little Miss Sunshine². The soundtrack even earned Devotchka a 2007 Grammy nomination. METRIC
Metric on Fearless Music TV

Performing: "Dead Disco"

During 2004-2005, Canadian rockers Metric were hard at work touring throughout North America, Europe and Japan. They also managed to make a cameo in Oliver Assayas¹ 2004 ³junkie drama² film ³Clean². In January 2006, they even opened two shows for The Rolling Stones at Madison Square Garden in NYC. Singer Emily Haines has a one of a kind voice, and Metric¹s live performance is not to be missed. Their album ³Live It Out² is the follow up to their 2003 debut, ³Old World Underground, Where Are You Now². Metric¹s latest releases are ³Grow Up and Blow Away² and ³Metric: Live At Metropolis² DVD and CD.

UNEXPECT

Performing: "Summoning Scenes"

Only two words can describe this sextet of Montréal, Canadians: f--king awesome! Unexpect formed in the late 1990¹s, and plays very eclectic sounding music, that combines such genres as metal, gothic, opera, electro and classical. Their live show has high energy and excitement (9 string bass, violin, female contemporary dancer turned singer, etc). In 2004, they were signed to The End records, and released their debut album ³In A Flesh Aquarium². They¹re currently on tour with label mates Sigh. Check out Unexpect playing at B.B Kings in NYC next Tuesday night, September 16. They¹re definitely not a band to be missed live.

THE CRIBS

Performing: "Hey Scenesters"

The band The Cribs, featuring brothers Ryan, Gary and Ross Jarmen, was formed in 2002 in the UK. They have been featured in Rolling Stone Magazine as having one of the '100 best tracks of 2007 in the US.' The Cribs have shared the stage with the Sex Pistols , The Ting Tings and Joe Lean and The Jing. A recent addition to The Cribs is former The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr . Be sure to pick up their 2007 release ³Men¹s Needs, Women¹s Needs, Whatever².

THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN

Performing: "Setting Fire To Sleeping Giants"

DEP began in 1997, and throughout the years have gained and lost members. The only original member is guitarist Ben Weinman . DEP¹s loud, aggressive music belongs to a sub genre of metalcore called mathcore. In 2000, they were without a singer, and had a nationwide search to find a new vocalist. In 2001, Greg Puciato was discovered, and to this day is Dillinger¹s singer. The Dillinger Escape Plan¹s most recent album is ³Ire Works², out now on Relapse Records.

HONEST THOMAS

Performing: "Horsey Payment Plan"

This former Boston band recently made the move out to San Francisco, CA. Honest Thomas combine heavy riffs and vocals, and have a high energy live show not to be missed. Influences include The Mars Volta and Incubus. Honest Thomas are currently in the process of writing music for their second EP. .

LOW VS DIAMOND

Performing: "Don¹t Forget Sister"

This Los Angeles indie rock quintet formed in 2002 while in college. They have a diverse range of influences, including Dave Matthews Band, Phish and Brian Eno . Their debut EP ³Life After Love ² was released in February 2007, and have since been signed to Sony Records . Low Vs Diamond¹s self-titled, full-length album came out in April. Rolling Stone has also named LVD as one of six artists defining pop and rock in 2008.

THE DUKE SPIRIT

Performing: "Cuts Across The Land"

Singer/harmonica player Liela Moss and guitarist/keyboardist Luke Ford met at art school in the United Kingdom . Both soon decided to ditch school, move to London and focus on making music. Three other talented musicians joined the two, and The Duke Spirit was officially born in 2002. Such influences of The Duke Sprit include Patti Smith and The Velvet Underground . Check out their debut album, ³Cuts Across The Land², and be sure to pick up their sophomore effort, ³Neptune². The Duke Spirit is touring the states this fall.

TALLY HALL

Performing: "Banana Man"

This awesome quintet from Ann Arbor, MI formed in December 2002. Each member can be identified by the colors of their ties (they each wear a different color tie). Named after one of the first food courts in the United States, Tally Hall¹s original music has been heard on such shows as ³The O.C.² and ³The Real World². With influences ranging from The Beach Boys to Queen, it¹s no wonder Tally Hall plays great music. They were recently signed to Atlantic Records , and re-released their debut album, ³Marvin¹s Marvelous Mechanical Museum², in April.

LOUIS XIV

Performing: "Guilt By Association"

Louis XIV is a California post-punk revival band that has been signed to Atlantic Records since 2004. They have been banned from performing in the state of Alabama for their raunchy, over-sexed lyrics. Like most other things however, they take it lightly and with laughter. Louis XIV is currently playing shows throughout Europe.

DROPSONIC

Performing: "Waiting For The Axe"

Atlanta, GA trio Dropsonic formed in 1996. They create a sound that has an indie rock and classic rock feel (think Jesus Lizard mixed with Led Zeppelin ). They have toured extensively, and have gained many fans due to their high-energy live shows. Be sure to pick up Dropsonic¹s latest album ³The Low Life², and look for them playing in a city near you this fall.

JONAS BROTHERS

Performing: "6 Minutes"

Originally a solo project of Nick Jonas, it eventually morphed into the Jonas Brothers (including Nick¹s brothers Kevin and Joe). These teen/young adult sensations are blowing up, with songs on multiple soundtracks, guest spots on TV shows such as ³Hannah Montana², and playing on a float at 2007¹s Macy¹s Thanksgiving Day Parade . Tweens love Jonas Brothers¹ pop rock, and they can even be seen on their own TV show on the Disney Channel . Jonas Brothers recently released their third album, ³A Little Bit Longer².

THE FRATELLIS

Performing: "Tell Me A Lie"

The Fratellis are a Scottish indie rock quartet who has rocketed to success within the last year. Their music has appeared on both iPod and Burberry commercials, and they have sold over one million copies of their second album ³Costello Music². Look out for them on tour this fall, and pick up The Fratellis¹ most recent release, ³Here We Stand².

THE BEASTS OF EDEN

Performing: "Would You Kill?"

This band started in 2006 by Chris V and Chris B, who shared a vision for hook-driven, ethereal rock punctuated by hard drums and rhythmic guitars. The title track from their debut EP, "End Times", has been featured in the Ford/Microsoft Sync commercial and they've been involved with Playboy Magazine's Rock The Rabbit 2008. Believe it or not, they've achieved all this on the power of one debut EP. "End Times" is available now and the band is currently at work on their first full length LP , due out later this year on Gift Music in the UK.

JUST SURRENDER

Performing: "I Can Barely Breathe"

Originally named Second Chance, this Poughkeepsie, NY band have been on the Vans Warped Tour and have toured with The Audition, Matchbook Romance , Hawthorne Heights , Autopilot Off and Armor For Sleep , just to name a few. Along the way, the band has collected a strong fan base that matches their high energy at live shows. Their last release, ³We're In Like Sin² was released in 2007 and their EP, "Stronger Now", was released this past month.

PK DWYER

Performing: "Ten Fold"

With a career that spans over 30 years, PK Dwyer has played it all: punk, blues, folk, cabaret, movie soundtracks to straight up rock & roll. PK Dwyer is a one-man traveling band. Originally from Mill Valley, CA , he makes his home in North Carolina then relocates to New York City for the summer. In the 1970s, he was the first street performer at Seattle Pike Place Market . PK then moved to Europe in the 1980s where he was a street performer in Paris and the winner of the First Annual Street Performers Competition in 1981. From there, he moved to New York City and started a controversial cabaret act called The Hollywood Dick Doll Review where he was championed by Suzanne Vega and Richie Havens , who then signed him in 1983. ED HARCOURT

Performing: "Born In The 70¹s"

This Sussex, England singer/songwriter creates a musical backdrop that is thoughtful, prolific and multihued. Each song is crafted from personal experience and given life in a way that is dark, rich and beautiful. Ed has opened for such acts as REM, the Gutter Twins and Snow Patrol . His latest release, " The Beautiful Lie " is available now.

SHWAYZE

Performing: "Polaroid"

Shwayze is the self-proclaimed ³only black kid in Malibu². This 22-year-old rapper is Whitestarr frontman Cisco Adler¹s protégé. It all started in 2005 when Schwayze got on stage to freestyle with Whitestarr drummer Alex Orbison backing him. Cisco saw that there was something special in Shwayze, and the two began their collaboration. On Shwayze¹s self-titled debut, Cisco co-wrote, produced and sang background vocals. The songs are all about partying, and having a good time. Look for Shwayze on tour this fall, and check out his MTV reality show, ³Buzzin².

YOUR BLACK STAR

Performing: "Oh Jesus"

This Louisville, KY trio are atmospheric and anthemic, creating songs that seem perfect for long car rides with your friends or the theme song to a great night out. Formed in 2001, this band set out to build a fan base the old fashioned way: non-stop touring and trips around the world. They have played CMJ Music Festival , South By Southwest and shared stages with Sleater-Kinney and The Hold Steady . Their current release, ³Beasts², is available now.

THE JEALOUS GIRLFRIENDS

Performing: "Secret Identity"

A Brooklyn band that takes the sounds and attitudes from across the musical landscape to create melodies that stay in the head for days. Mixing new wave, Britpop and soul, The Jealous Girlfriends have a huge following, becoming one of the best-kept secrets in indie music today. Their self-titled record is out now and they are going out on tour with Shudder To Think this October.

CONSIDER THE SOURCE

Performing: "Do Not Shrink Me Gypsy"

What would happen if a fretless guitar were teamed up with a live percussionist, and a 5 string electric bass guitar ? New York City 's Consider The Source asks that question, blending together ethno-musical genres in a musical melting pot that reflects the city they call home. Drawing from diverse influences like Mos Def, Bach and John Coltrane , Consider The Source take listeners on a Middle Eastern psychedelic funk rock joy ride. Their self -titled EP is available now and they are on tour.

ALLA

Performing: "Es Tiempo"

This Latin psychedelic pop band from Chicago takes Brazilian Tropicalia, the Motown sound, Mexican music and run it through a 1960s pop production. The trio sought a means to create a sound that took all of their collective influences and was a tribute to their Mexican heritage. The breathy vocals of Lupe Martinez over the international beats and flavors from around the world create a musical surrealist dream backdrop. Their latest, ³Es Tiempo (It's Time)² is available now.

THE BRIDE WORE BLACK

Performing: "Tonight I¹ll Look To Celestial"

This Queens, NY power-punk pop quintet combine rapid-fire delivery, hard guitars, synths and drums with a dash of pop goodness. Dance punk happy hardcore, The Bride Wore Black list their influences as New Found Glory , Depeche Mode , Saves The Day, New Order and The Backstreet Boys . They are currently in the studio working on new material, but in the mean time pick up their first EP, ³¡PWNED!².

THE FUTUREHEADS

Performing: "Radio Heart"

Named after The Flaming Lips album ³Hit To Death In The Future Head², The Futureheads formed in the UK in 2000 by singer Barry Hyde in his garage. They combine punk rock aesthetic with elements of harmony, pop and shades of New Order and The Clash . Extensive touring took them all around their native United Kingdom , playing Glastonbury Festival , as well as coming to the states to appear on The Jimmy Kimmel Show. Their latest release, "This Is Not The World" was recorded in 3 weeks in the Sierra Nevada range in Andalusia. It is available now and they are currently on tour in support of the record. .

TUB RING

Performing: "When The Crash Happened"

Chicago quintet Tub Ring formed in 1992 while the members were still in high school. Originally a punk band, they changed their sound drastically in 2001 to more experimental music. This new sound is very similar to the likes of Mr. Bungle , one of TR¹s major musical influences . Trey Spruance of Mr. Bungle in fact produced tub Ring¹s first album, ³Drake Equation². Tub Ring is a sight to see live, including keyboardist Rob Kleiner playing keyboard while standing on top of it. In 2006, Tub Ring was signed to The End Records , and released ³The Great Filter² in May 2007. GOES CUBE

BLACK KIDS

Performing: "I¹m Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You"

Jacksonville, Florida natives Black Kids sound like a throwback to the days The Cure and Joy Division . This young band has already graced the stages of Lollapalooza , The Late Show with David Letterman and several international festivals to rave reviews. Their major release, "Partie Traumatic", is out now and you can catch them touring the rest of the summer and into the fall.

BELLA NOIR

Performing: "Stand Closer"

This Brooklyn, NY band combines tight melodies, enchantment and seductive vocals over hypnotic electronica elements. Drawing influences from life and their own conversations, Bella Noir live up to their name of being beautifully dark. Their EP ³Premonitions² is available now and look for them playing shows throughout NYC.

LOST TRICKS

Performing: "The Better"

Combining piano rock and pop , Brooklyn NY's Lost Tricks aren't lost at all. Singer and songwriter Trev Oswalt's voice is warm and carry the melodies that are found in Lost Tricks' songs. Their track, " Something Out of Nothing " will be featured in the upcoming movie "Alice". Also an actor, Trev has appeared in the Will Smith movie , "Hitch". Their EP ³Keep It Together² is available now.

ALEXA WILKINSON

Performing: "The Other Boleyn Girl"

This singer/songwriter¹s first introduction to music was because of a boy. A crush led her to taking trumpet lessons at age 10, where she excelled at it. Since then, Alexa has been playing guitar and every other instrument she could, and as a result produced a string of successful records. Her latest release, "Lions", is a pop, rock, folk gem that sounds every bit as honest as it is real. She's currently on tour with Josh Radin and Vanessa Carlton .

THE SEQUEL

Performing: "Tip Of Your Tongue"

The Sequel is the stage name of singer/songwriter Matt Bair. Organic, confessional and emotionally driven pop rock, The Sequel draws on singers like Bruce Springsteen and Elvis Costello as well as the folk guitar found in Bright Eyes . This will be the first performance of The Sequel in a full band ensemble.

GOGOL BORDELLO

Performing: "Dogs Were Barking"

Nine people make up this incredible gypsy punk band from NYC. They've been around for almost ten years mesmerizing fans with their on-stage theatrics, and magical sound blending jazz, dub, reggae, and punk. GB has toured with the likes of Primus and Flogging Molly . Two of the members joined Madonna on stage at the London Live Earth concert. Be sure to pick up Gogol Bordello¹s 2007 album ³Super Taranta!².

SIX CHASING SEVEN

Performing: "Armor"

This Lynchburg, VA group have been together since 2003. With their blend of jazz, funk, reggae, rock, and soul, they have been building a steady reputation as a band worth seeing. A line up change in 2006 garnered them even more attention as well as the chance to record with Dave Matthews Band's Boyd Tinsley . They are currently on tour with their newest release, "Direction".

BLOODY SOCIAL

Performing: "Room 100"

Imagine a dark and dingy dive bar with rock blaring from the speakers. Now imagine that rock being supplied by this New York band. Taking hard hitting drum lines, crushing guitars and sexy vocals, Bloody Social promises a good time, no matter what. They are currently in the studio.

LAURA MARLING

Performing: "Cross Your Fingers"

18-year-old Laura Marling's debut album, "Alas I Cannot Swim" is an unconventionally packaged album. Designed by Laura, the 'Song Box' contains postcards, trinkets and stories. This London singer/songwriter¹s creative approach to her music allows for listeners to not only enjoy her music but to treat it and all music as a treasure. "Alas I Cannot Swim" is available now.

DENGUE FEVER

Performing: "Mr. Orange"

If you built a time machine and set it to 1960s Cambodia by way of Los Angeles, California, you'd probably run into this band. Cambodian songstress Chhom Nimol's voice soars over 60s era psychedelic pop rock and bass line grooves. Dengue Fever is on tour now in support of their latest release, "Venus On Earth", which is available now.

AMBULANCE LTD

Performing: "Ivy"

The band formed in Spanish Harlem, NY in 2000. They play rock music with influences including Jeff Buckley , Velvet Underground and The Smiths . The band was signed to TVT Records , where they released their self-titled EP in 2003. Their second album "LP" came out in 2004 to much praise. Ambulance LTD toured extensively, including a slot in 2005's Lollapalooza . In 2007, they released ³Download Festival Shoreline Ampithea². Recently, band members decided to part ways, leaving Marcus Congleton to find an all new line-up. They are currently in the studio working on new material. .

MIGGS

Performing: "Suddenly Wonderful"

This pop rock trio has been hailed by the San Francisco Herald as "the next big thing out of the San Francisco Bay area". Although faced with a series of challenges, singer Don Miggs recorded his experiences, made a few calls and placed a few ads, allowing him the opportunity to evolve. He was soon joined by bassist Michael Lombardo and drummer Brian Totten, forming Miggs as they are today. Miggs has shared the stage with such diverse acts as Mandy Moore, Cake, and Train. Their full length CD "Unraveled" is now available, and are currently touring.

DONITA SPARKS AND THE STELLAR MOMENTS

Performing: "Need To Numb"

This is the solo project of former L7 singer/guitarist Donita Sparks. The band also includes L7 drummer Demetra �Dee¹ Plakas. Donita Sparks and The Stellar Moments create music that blends goth, punk, glam, dance and has Donita¹s trademark sneer delivery. Be sure to pick up their debut album, "Transmiticate".

PUSH PLAY

Performing: "Starlite Addiction"

Long Island's Push Play formed when they were still in high school (which wasn¹t that long ago). Still in their teens, the guys have managed to carve out a power pop rock niche for themselves through rigorous touring and promotions. ALFONSO VELEZ

Performing: "Hell Yeah"

Alfonso Velez is the 27-year-old son of a Cuban architect and a Mexican mathematician. Alfonso loves the songs of Willie Nelson, Ray Charles and Elvis, but he keeps his roots close to the heart. His upbringing in Mexico City included "educational" stays at his Grandmother's house that was visited regularly by painters Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. With all the laptops, electronics and glamour that have permeated modern music, Alfonso Velez's real and raw performances are keeping the timeless American tradition of song and story, alive and young. Pick up his latest album ³Make It Plain², and look for him playing shows throughout NYC this August and September.

SYBRIS

Performing: "Gin Divides Us"

Led by vocalist Angela Mullenhour, Chicago band Sybris makes music mixing melody, fuzzy guitars and old fashioned rock. Similar to Yeah Yeah Yeahs in style, but experimental in approach, Sybris stands out in the hard to define music world of today. They are on tour supporting their latest release, "Into The Trees².

A LOVE LIKE PI

Performing: "Oh Everything"

New Jersey pop electro rock band A Love Like Pi take the general rules for electro rock and incorporate their own way of making music. With vocoder vocals and multilayered syths, A Love Like Pi rock like a science project in a good 80¹s movie. They are on tour and are currently recording a new record. .

BRAILLE

Performing: "The IV"

Hip-hop artist Braille originates from Portland, Oregon, and began making music at the young age of 13. Although mostly influenced by hip-hop music, he also lists classical, funk and soul. Be sure to pick up Braille¹s fourth release, ³IV², and look for him touring the rest of the summer.

PADDY CASEY

Performing: "Fear"

Irish Singer/songwriter Paddy Casey has had some milestones in his music career. One of the highlights includes his sophomore album ³Living² going eleven times platinum in Ireland, selling over 175,000 records. Paddy has also opened for the likes of R.E.M., Ani DiFranco and The Pretenders. Paddy has listed some influences as Bob Marley and Marvin Gaye. KELSEY AND THE CHAOS

Performing: "Against The Wall"

The charismatic Kelsey Merritt fronts This NYC pop-rock quintet. Originating from Indianapolis, Indiana, Kelsey refused to follow the cookie cutter music that many of her peers listened to. Instead of admiring the Backstreet Boys, she rocked out to Led Zeppelin and The Cars.
