| For Immediate Release: IN ALL THE WORLD, NO BAND LIKE THIS: LOW WATER SET TO RELEASE TWISTING THE NECK OF THE SWAN Brooklyn, NY, October/2008. Just back from a successful Midwest tour, Brooklyn's Low Water are gearing up to release their new CD Twisting the Neck of the Swan, following the premiere of their "Sister, Leave Me" video on FUSE On Demand. The band built a portable "photobooth" and filmed scores of folks from San Francisco to Brooklyn while on tour. FUSE took note of the buzz surrounding the video and asked them to do a full-length interview, which is set to air this fall to coincide with the release of the new record. In other TV-related news, PBS will feature the track "House in the City" on the documentary series Roadtrip Nation this season. Recent chat in the blogosphere is adding to the anticipation of the new CD as well; culturespill.com recently posted, "Back-to-basics rock and roll that awakens you to just how desperate you've been for a band that's not afraid to sound this real." But the new record finds that sound expanding; the strong songwriting and multiple harmonies are augmented by more complex arrangements: a string quartet sets the mood in "Go", analog synths drift in and out of "She Shined Down," a vintage horn section recalls the 60's in "Motown," and the 11-minute "song cycle" called "Charge" epitomizes the band's new creative direction. Clearly Low Water has taken note of its past studio experience and channeled that knowledge into an even more diverse -- and more challenging -- sound than ever before. Low Water's past work has garnered praise from NPR (the band was featured on "All Songs Considered"), Amplifier Magazine, AM New York, The Pittsburgh Post Gazette, West Coast Performer, Cincinnati CityBeat and The Davis Enterprise, among others, prompting smother.net to proclaim, "...(the band is) gathering up more critical praise day in and day out..." They will tour in support of Twisting the Neck of the Swan beginning this fall.
